A GMC Series Crosses The Finish Line With The Ultimate Model Of A Pickup Truck
The GMC Sierra Classic 3500 was the last model released to mark the end the series. In order to save the best for the end, GMC decided to redesign the 1999’s model of this series and make a new, classic edition of it. Seeing as there is a lot of time between 1999 and 2007, it can only be assumed that numerous improvements have been done in order to revive Sierra and give it a new look as well as a handful of worth the upgrades and improvements, which will ultimately make it one of the best cars of the series. So, was the attempt successful?
What is it like in general?
The GMC Sierra Classic 3500 is a conventionally designed pickup truck which comes with three different cab types. Those would be the two door regular cab, the four-door extended cab and the crew cabin. Naturally, in this order, it will be able to let two, four or five people fit into it, based on the cab you have chosen the. Depending on the cab body you have chosen, you will either have an 8 foot cargo box or a 6.5 foot bed. Next your design has retained most of the standard Sierra features, so it has been noticed that it didn’t change much in that regard at all. The interior design has been reported to be quite spacious, and quite a few reviewers have said that they feel comfortable driving the GMC Sierra Classic 3500 for an extended amount of time is no problem, due to the quite comfortable seats present both in the front and in the back of the car alike.
Can I tweak it?
You can really expect to be able to customize the GMC Sierra Classic 3500 in a few aspects only. The only thing which would be as close as possible to upgrades and customization would be getting spare parts for potential repairs of the car. There are some notable upgrades available, but they don’t offer the flexibility you would want to have in a car like this. You will be able to fine-tune some of the features, and perhaps get some minor upgrades for interior design as well, to make it even more comfortable than it currently is, but other than that, this year classic seems to be on quite a low point.
What kind of an engine does it have?
This is where things get to be really interesting with the GMC Sierra Classic 3500, as you will find that, despite the fact that it is seven years old currently, it is still able to provide a powerful engine which will make the car go faster. The engine this particular model has been equipped with is a 6.0 L V-8 engine with as much as 353 HP! With a smooth little upgrade, you will be able to upgrade the engine to a 6.6 L and increase the total horsepower to 365 and enjoy the faster speeds for a fair price. The six speed automatic transmission is available for this engine, and if you would really like to boost the performance of the car to a new level, you can easily upgrade this car by getting a limited slip differential and an intercooled turbo compressor. Note that these are entirely optional and you are in no way obliged to purchase them.
Is the fuel economy doing well?
The GMC Sierra Classic 3500 certainly uses their ace in the pocket in this area too. Seeing as this car has been doing quite well so far, with a lot of relief, we can see that it is doing just fine in the fuel economy department as well. It seems to have all the characteristics of a well handled car. A big fuel tank, which will be able to have as much as 34 gallons of fuel, which is great, seeing as this is a full-size pickup truck, which is bound to need a lot of fuel to be able to run properly. As for expected millage you can see in this car will be able to make it to 16mpg, which makes for quite a good exchange. You won’t have to worry about spending a lot of money on fuel, seeing as this car will use the regular unleaded fuel, but with a small upgrade, you can easily be able to switch to using diesel fuel, if that is something you would want.
What kind of the safety can be expected out of this car?
If we take a closer look at the safety of the GMC Sierra Classic 3500, will soon discover that we have found the car’s only weak spot. The safety hasn’t been handled quite as spectacularly as the rest of the car was, and this can be noticed straightaway. The only safety features this car can rely on are the ABS brakes and an ignition disable. This is everything you can hope to find in the safety area of this car. Believe it or not, the GMC has decided not to include any airbags into the car’s standard equipment roster, which is disturbing to say the least. Seeing as this car might be able to transport six people, the lack of airbags or any other notable safety features which would protect the passengers and the driver, it would put on the passengers into a great risk whenever the driver starts the car. Luckily, this can be corrected quite easily. Since the airbags, as an optional upgrade to the car, you can simply buy them and have them installed, so if we consider everything that has been said here, this isn’t really that much of a disadvantage, since it can be corrected.
Would this make a good car to own?
The GMC Sierra Classic 3500 closed the series of a lot of successful models which are much in demand even today. With all the features listed above, it certainly presents itself is a very good choice for potential buyer, seeing as it has a great towing capability, a powerful engine which can even be upgraded, and the ability to transport a larger group of people at once. The buyers would like to see some more quality out of a similar model, should know that the Sierra model has been reintroduced to the market in 2014 again, and it went by the name of Sierra classic HD.
