The wheelbase is stretched a bit by about 2.4 inches and the overall length of the vehicle is reduced by just about half an inch in the sedan and about 1.8 inches in 5-door model. Adding to the excitement of the Mazda fans is the all new 2.0L Skyactiv engine, which is the powerbank of the 3i models. In the previous version Mazda 3, Skyactiv 2.0L was fitted with a conventional exhaust, which is custom designed to fit into the small engine compartment. However, now the new 2.0L Skyactiv is designed to feature a bigger exhaust manifold. At about 4000-RPM torque at peak, the engine is up by only lb-ft considering to that of the previous, but it can comfortably deliver 148 lb-ft at 3000 RPM. With a six-speed automatic system, it can offer 30 mpg city drive and 41 mpg highly efficient in the sedan model and 30 and 40 respectively for the hatchback.
